Disputing a defect

Written by Adnan Sadinlija

Learn how to mark a defect as In dispute when you disagree it's valid or think it's out of scope. Covers raising a dispute on web and mobile, resolving it by reopening or closing, configuring dispute settings per round, and filtering by In dispute status.

How to put a defect into dispute

The steps are the same on both web and mobile:

  1. Open the defect.

  2. Select the drop down menu

  3. Choose "Mark as in dispute"

  4. If prompted, provide a reason why.

If your round has notifications configured, the nominated recipients will be emailed when the defect is put into dispute.

Resolving a disputed defect

Once a defect is in dispute, you have two ways to take it out of dispute and resolve it:

  • Move back to Open → You can leave a comment explaining why you're reopening it.

  • Mark as Closed → You can leave a comment explaining why you're closing it.

Note: Only the creator of the defect or a reviewer can mark a defect as closed.

Configuring In-dispute settings

When setting up a defect round, you can control how disputes behave:

  • Toggle on whether users are required to provide a comment when marking a defect as In dispute.

  • Select which user(s) are notified by email when a defect in that round is put into dispute.

Note: If you select a company for notifications, all users from that company on your project will receive an email.

Filtering for In-Dispute

To see everything currently in dispute, apply the In dispute filter under Visi status. This is available on both web and mobile.
