By the end of this article you'll be able to set up and manage review workflows on your Visis, approve or request changes as a reviewer, and configure sequential multi-step review chains.
How the review workflow works
When a Reviewer is assigned to a Visi, the system prompts the assignee to request review once the work is complete. The Reviewer then approves and closes the Visi, or requests changes if further work is needed. No Visi with a Reviewer can be closed without going through this process.
Where to add a Reviewer
You can add a Reviewer to a parent or child Visi.
Parent Visi: the review workflow activates once all associated child Visis in the checklist are complete.
Child Visi: the workflow triggers when that specific task or issue is completed.
A reviewer can be added at template level or to individual inspections
You can either set the reviewer as the entire company or for an individual.
How to add or update a Reviewer on an existing Visi
Web app
Mobile app
If you need to update the Reviewer across multiple Visis at once, see How to bulk update Visis.
How to request a review
Once the work is complete, the assignee requests review from within the Visi. The Reviewer is notified and the Visi status moves to "In Review".
How to complete a review
All Visis ready for your review appear in the Your List page. Open the sidebar and click Approve and close to finalise.
You can also filter to Visis "in review" from any project location, open the Visi details page to check all requirements have been met, then click Approve and close.
How to request changes
If further work is needed before you can approve, select Request changes and leave a comment explaining what needs to be addressed. The Visi will reopen and the assignee will be notified. The same process applies on the mobile app.
How to set up a sequential multi-step review chain
For workflows that require sign-off from more than one reviewer in sequence, Visibuild supports multi-step review chains. Once the first reviewer approves, the Visi automatically transfers to the next reviewer in the chain until all steps are complete and the Visi closes.
Here's how the sequence works:
A = Assignee, C = Creator, R1 = First Reviewer, R2 = Second Reviewer.
Adding a review step to a Visi
You can add review steps when creating a Visi or by editing an existing one. This is flexible and can be done retrospectively.
